Praise Him

I had the most amazing mom moment a few days ago and I have to share it. It was the day before Rob left; he had stepped out onto our back porch and was playing with our crazy chocolate lab. I was inside playing with Max and when he crawled over to the back door I obliged, picked him up and carried him outside.

It was early evening, still warm here in Oklahoma and we were barefoot. I gave Rob a kiss as I passed him and took Max out to the hammock. The hammock that we got many months ago but had been sitting forlornly in our cluttered garage, with Rob home he had put it together for me and positioned it under the trees that swoop over our fence line.

There was a steady breeze, normal for an Oklahoma summer evening and I laid down with Max. He immediately popped up and started crawling around the hammock, testing the tension and slope before crawling back to his momma. He was positioned next to me, his feet by my side “standing” with his hands on my stomach for balance. I felt the breeze and the presence of Rob just across the yard and started telling Max about the tree’s and the wind and the rustling leaves and then he stood up.

Both arms raised, his face tilted up, a smile teasing his baby mouth. He was praising. He was praising and I had to ask him, “Max, are you praising the Lord for the tree’s and the leaves and the wind?” He laughed and came back down to my stomach and started exploring again.

In that moment I saw that we are created to praise Him. My nine month old son had praise in his heart and it was beautiful, breathtaking, and glorious.

Jesi

Psalm 148
Praise the Lord.
Praise the LORD from the heavens; praise him in the heights above. Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his heavenly hosts. Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars. Praise him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies.
Let them praise the name of the LORD, for he commanded and they were created.
He set them in place for ever and ever; he gave a decree that will never pass away.
Praise the LORD from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths,
lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds that do his bidding, you mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, wild animals and all cattle, small creatures and flying birds, kings of the earth and all nations, you princes and all rulers on earth, young men and maidens, old men and children. Let them praise the name of the LORD, for his name alone is exalted; his splendor is above the earth and the heavens.
He has raised up for his people a horn, the praise of all his saints, of Israel, the people close to his heart. Praise the LORD.
